Brooks Caldera er en sko i høj klasse. Skoen som kan sammenlignes med Brooks Cascadia er væsentlig mere fleksibel og endda også lettere med en vægt på kun 280 gram (herre). Skoen giver en god støtte og er en sko, som er særdeles velegnet til lange ture i terrænet.

Sålen som går fra 25-21 mm, 4 mm drop, giver en meget imødekommende støddæmpning til dine lange ture, og skåner dine fødder.
Skoen sidder godt fast til foden, meget komfortabel og en god ventilerende overdel som gavner dine fødder på de lange ture. Der er god plads ude i forfoden – og til dem med smalle fødder, så skal I ikke frygte eftersom snørebåndet giver dig mulighed for en perfekt snøring af skoen (som holder gennem hele løbet) i første forsøg.
Snørebåndet som er med skoen er simpelthen noget af det bedste jeg har prøvet på sko. Jeg har ikke tænkt over det før nu, men det er virkelig en stor del af skoens komfort. Der er også det ekstra snørehul, som jeg kan anbefale at bruge.

En ting som har irriteret mig ved tidligere trailsko er “snuden”, som jeg ofte bliver irriteret over på mine ture. Det tog mig tre gode lange ture i skoen, inden jeg bemærkede den solide “kofanger” på skoen. Ikke fordi den generede, men da jeg ikke havde mærket den, måtte jeg lige sikre mig, at der er var beskyttelse på snuden!

Mellemsålen består af Brooks “BioMoGo DNA” dæmpning, som er dejlig blød, men alligevel fast og lydhør nok til at skubbe tempoet ved højere hastigheder. Skoens komfort er så god, at man kan have skoen på til hel dags vandreture og specielt til ultraløb.

Ydersålen består af varierende gummiblandinger limet til “BioMoGo DNA”. Profilen af mønstret er ikke særlig høj, men de giver overraskende god trækkraft gennem en lang række overflader. Mønstret er klæbrig og giver en rigtig god trækkraft på de underlag man møder i terrænet – våde, tørre og stenet forhold.
Skoens relative brede ydersål giver en god stabilitet uden at gå på kompromis med den bevægelighed jeg foretrækker i en trailsko.
Caldera er ikke en lige så hurtig sko som PureGrit er for at nævne et eksempel, men den kan nemt håndtere fart, og det vil jeg gerne skrive under på!
Jeg har løbet i en lang række af underlag, næsten alt du kan forestille dig. Stejle grusede stier , off trail, grusveje, asfalt, sne, is og glatte mudrede single-tracks, og har fundet Caldera til at være en fantastisk alsidig sko.

Jeg har af gode grunde ikke kunne teste skoen på mere barsk underlag, end det vi har i Danmark – endnu. Skoen er meget alsidig i det danske terræn, og er helt sikkert et godt valg til lange træningsture og ultraløb. Jeg tager den med til Ossola trail i Italien 9. april og tester den på 27km og 1900 højdemeter i bjergene – det bliver sikkert en god udfordring (for skoen 😉 )
